Duane “Keffe D” Davis became the first person convicted in connection with Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder when a Las Vegas jury found him guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon on August 31, 2026.

Prosecutors argued that the former South Side Compton Crips leader organized the retaliatory attack and supplied the gun used in the shooting, although they did not accuse him of personally firing at Shakur.

Davis, 63, has said he plans to appeal and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13, 2026. While his connection to Shakur’s death has kept Davis in the public eye for years, considerably less is known about his life away from the case.

He is married to Paula Clemons and has children and grandchildren, but his family has largely remained outside the publicity surrounding his criminal history and the Tupac investigation.

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis Is Married to Wife Paula Clemons

Duane Davis’ wife is Paula Clemons, whose name became widely reported in 2023 because of the renewed investigation into Tupac Shakur’s death. Unlike her husband, Clemons does not appear to have maintained a significant public profile.

There is little reliable information about her profession, background, or how she and Davis met. Major news organizations have also not established exactly when the couple married.

Their marriage was publicly confirmed through property records after Las Vegas Metropolitan Police searched a house in Henderson, Nevada, in July 2023. CNN reported at the time, in coverage carried by CBS News, that property records identified Clemons as Davis’ wife and showed that the Henderson home belonged to her.

The search became a major development in the Tupac investigation. Police seized several electronic devices and other materials from the property while looking for evidence connected to the rapper’s September 1996 shooting.

Davis was arrested roughly two months later, on September 29, 2023. Although Clemons’ name consequently appeared in extensive coverage of the case, she was not charged in connection with Shakur’s death.

Davis and His Wife Lived in Henderson, Nevada

Davis and Clemons had been living in Henderson, Nevada, outside Las Vegas, before his arrest. Rolling Stone reported that the couple shared the Henderson residence searched by police in July 2023.

Investigators recovered computers, documents, photographs, news material related to Shakur’s killing and other items from the property. The family residence also came up during Davis’ 2026 trial for another reason.

During court proceedings in August, Davis complained that addresses connected to members of his family had been exposed and said his family was receiving threats.

He also told the court that his home and his wife’s vehicle had been vandalized. The judge subsequently addressed concerns about conduct surrounding witnesses and people connected to the trial. Clemons herself has remained largely silent publicly about her husband’s prosecution and conviction.

Does Keffe D Have Children?

Yes. Duane Davis has children, although reliable reporting does not clearly establish how many. Davis has generally kept their identities private, and most mainstream coverage of the Tupac case has not named his children.

That makes claims circulating on celebrity-biography websites about specific numbers or names difficult to verify. One of Davis’ sons was, however, present in the Clark County courtroom when the jury returned its guilty verdict on August 31, 2026.

According to Associated Press reporting from the courtroom, Davis’ son covered his face with one hand after his father was found guilty. Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, was also present and became emotional as the verdict was announced.

The moment provided one of the few public glimpses of Davis’ immediate family during a case that has otherwise concentrated almost entirely on his criminal history and his statements about Shakur’s death.

His wife Paula Clemons, his children and other relatives have largely remained outside the public spotlight as Davis now awaits sentencing and pursues an appeal.

Keffe D Is Also a Grandfather

Davis has publicly confirmed that he is a grandfather. While being held in jail awaiting trial, he spoke to ABC News in March 2025 and complained about being separated from his family.

Davis said he believed he should have been at home watching his grandchildren grow up and tending to his garden. The interview did not identify his grandchildren or provide their number, and there is little verified public information about them.

For that reason, the most that can reliably be said is that Davis has both children and grandchildren. His immediate family appears to have avoided becoming public figures despite his notoriety.

Davis Grew Up as One of 12 Children

Davis came from a large family himself. According to details he provided in his memoir, Compton Street Legend, Davis was one of 12 siblings. He was born in Watts, California, before his family relocated to Compton when he was young.

Davis described his mother as a homemaker originally from Texas and his father as a former Marine from Virginia. He wrote that his father won a large sum of money while betting at a horse-racing track in Tijuana, Mexico, which helped his parents purchase a home in Compton. His mother later died from colon cancer while Davis was still a teenager.

Davis himself was diagnosed with the same disease in 2014 and has said that his cancer subsequently went into remission. He has also written about losing two brothers: one to cancer and another who was fatally shot in Compton. Because these details come primarily from Davis’ own autobiographical account, they reflect his description of his family history.
