At 43, Travis Van Winkle is single and doesn’t regret it one bit. In fact, it’s a choice he’s made on purpose. But that doesn’t mean he’s given up on love or family.
In an episode of The Man Enough Podcast in 2023, Travis opened up about his views on relationships and personal growth. When asked about his journey towards marriage and kids, he revealed:
I’m 40 and I’m single and I don’t shame that, I’m totally cool being that. And just because I’m not married doesn’t mean I haven’t experienced the same amount of depth and love that marriages have.
The actor’s take on relationships has evolved through some tough experiences. He talked about how a recent breakup hit him hard, leaving him in emotional turmoil for months. This painful experience pushed him to reevaluate his approach to relationships and sparked a desire for change.
Travis’ focus now? Working on himself first. He’s realized that being the right partner starts with how he treats himself. It’s a process that takes time, but he’s embracing it. As he put it:
Getting right with me, and I’m operating from a different place than I was a year and a half ago. And the way that I’m treating myself is going to be how I treat other women, especially in my intimate relationships.
While he’s in no rush to tie the knot, he is open to what the future might bring. For now, he’s content with where he is, learning and growing as he goes.
Has Recently Decided to Stay Off Dating Apps
Travis’s journey to find love has taken an interesting turn. While he was once active on dating apps, including the exclusive platform Raya, he’s now chosen to step away from the digital dating scene.
The actor recently opened up about his decision to ditch the apps, explaining,
I’ve gotten off the apps, to me it’s not a place that I find myself thriving. And so I’ve just decided to let life kind of guide the way and take a step back from that.
The You star found that the constant swiping and matching wasn’t the right fit for him. He felt the apps put too much emphasis on physical attraction, saying,
It over sexualizes people. And it puts you, it put me in a state where it just, it made that too front and center.
Instead, he’s now more interested in organic connections. “It takes away from when you just meet someone organically on the street and you have a nice moment with them,” he shared.
By stepping back from the digital dating world, he’s giving himself space to continue working on himself and letting things unfold naturally.
Was in a Relationship With Jessica Kemejuk
Before embracing his single status, Van Winkle was in a relationship with actress and producer Jessica Kemejuk. The couple’s romance seems to have blossomed around March 2016, based on a hint from Jessica’s Instagram.
While they were together, Travis and Jessica weren’t shy about sharing their love on social media. Their feeds were once filled with their photos together and sweet captions, though most of those posts have since been removed.
It looks like their relationship wrapped up sometime between 2018 and 2020. This breakup might be the one Travis referred to in his recent podcast appearance, where he opened up about a painful split that left him “on my knees, on the ground, in a fetal position, in a puddle for many months.”
Despite the heartache, there doesn’t seem to be bad blood between the exes. They still follow each other on Instagram, and some of the actor’s old comments on his ex-girlfriend’s posts remain visible. This suggests their parting might have been on mutual terms.
The end of this relationship appears to have been a turning point for Van Winkle. As he shared in the podcast, the pain pushed him to “start changing the paradigm” and rethink how he approaches love and partnerships.
