Scottie Scheffler, at just 28 years old, reinforced his stature as the world’s top golfer with a compelling victory at the Masters, securing his second green jacket in three years.

On April 14th, 2024, at Augusta National, Scheffler showcased why he’s considered the dominant force of his era, winning the tournament by four strokes over a lineup of elite competitors.

As the competition intensified, Scheffler maintained composure, notably on the ninth hole where he delivered a masterful shot that nearly resulted in an eagle, securing his lead.

His consistent performance culminated in a final-round score of 68, leaving rivals in his wake as he executed crucial birdies on the back nine to seal his victory.

Today, we’ll explore another facet of this champion—his and his wife Meredith’s ethnicity, which adds depth to his identity both on and off the green.

He Has a Rich Ethnic Background

Scottie has a mixed ethnicity. From his dad Scott’s side he is a German and from his mom Diane’s side, he is an Italian.

His mom’s maiden surname is DeLorenzo, as per her brother John DeLorenzo’s obituary, an Italian name. Besides, she grew up in Park Ridge, New Jersey, a place where around 17 percent are of Italian heritage.

Meanwhile, Scottie’s spouse Meredith, whose maiden name is Scudder, has English ancestry. Whenever their first child is born, which may be by the end of April 2024, they will enjoy the blend of their parent’s culture.

Both Mere, as Scott would like to call her and Scott, are devout Catholics and they married in a true Christian way as well.

When it comes to Scottie, you might think his life has always been about golf courses, birdies, and bogeys. But off the green, his heart belongs to someone he’s been with long before the trophies started stacking up—his high school sweetheart, Meredith.

Their love story is like a sweet plot twist in a high school romance movie. They met during their teenage years, and instead of a fleeting hallway romance, their relationship grew stronger over the years. They finally tied the knot in December 2020, proving that sometimes, young love does last.

The Rise of Scottie In The Golfing World

Scottie Scheffler’s journey to the top of the golf world began in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he was born, but it was in Dallas, Texas, that he swung his first clubs. The family moved to the Lone Star state after the 9/11 attack.

He has three sisters Callie, Molly, and Sara, all of whom are an important part of his life. Scott’s family is not your typical traditional household; his father was a stay-at-home dad while his mother worked as a COO at the Thompson and Knight law firm.

From a young age, Scottie showed a natural affinity for golf, nurtured by a supportive family environment.  He honed his skills at Highland Park High School, where he not only met his future partner but also established himself as a promising young golfer by winning the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2013.

Scottie’s college years at the University of Texas at Austin were marked by both academic and athletic dedication. As a Longhorn, he contributed significantly to the team, helping them to several victories and earning individual accolades along the way.

Turning professional in 2016, Scottie’s rise was steady. By 2019, he earned his PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour, setting the stage for the achievements that would follow.

His breakthrough came in 2021 when he won his first PGA Tour event. Since then, Scottie has climbed the rankings, marked by consistent performances and culminating in major wins that have stamped his authority as a leading figure in the sport.
