Savannah Guthrie, a lead co-anchor of NBC News’ Today, has been going through an intensely distressing period after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing from her Tucson home.
Authorities say Nancy, 84, was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood on the evening of January 31, 2026.
Concern grew the next morning when Savannah’s mom failed to attend church, something family members described as highly unusual. After relatives went to her home and found no sign of her, police were contacted, and a missing-person report was filed.
As the investigation unfolded, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed during a press briefing that the residence was being treated as a crime scene. Law enforcement later announced that the case had been upgraded to a criminal investigation, with officials stating they believe Nancy was taken from her home against her will and removed from her bed during the night.
Savannah did not appear on Today on February 2. In a public statement, the broadcast journalist acknowledged the overwhelming support her family has received, thanking those who had reached out with prayers and messages.
She said the family’s priority remains Nancy’s safe return and expressed appreciation for the work being done by investigators, while urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
With the case drawing national attention, interest has also grown around Savannah Guthrie’s immediate family, as many seek to learn more about her siblings and background.
Savannah Guthrie Grew Up Along With Two Siblings
Guthrie spent part of her early childhood outside the United States. She was born in Melbourne, Australia, where her father, Charles Guthrie, had been temporarily relocated for work. The family later returned to the U.S. and settled in Tucson, Arizona, when Savannah was around two years old. She is the youngest of three children.
Tragedy struck the family years later when Charles, a mining engineer, died suddenly from a heart attack at just 46. At the time, Savannah was 16 and finishing her senior year of high school.
During a podcast appearance in August 2023, Savannah shared that her father had suffered his first heart attack when she was 13. She explained that the seriousness of his condition was not fully understood at the time, which made his death three years later all the more devastating for the family.
In the years since, Savannah has spoken openly about her father’s influence on her life. She has also honored his memory through occasional social media posts.
Brother Camron Guthrie
Camron Guthrie built a long career in the U.S. military as an F-16 fighter pilot, serving for more than two decades. Known by the call sign “ARLO,” he flew for 26 years before retiring from military flying in 2018.
Despite his distinguished career, Camron has largely kept his life private. Savannah has occasionally shared her pride in her older brother, most notably in August 2018, when she posted a video of his final F-16 takeoff. In her message, she described how meaningful it was for their family to witness his last flight and noted that he continued to serve with the Vermont Air National Guard’s “Green Mountain Boys.”

Sister Annie Guthrie
Annie Guthrie has appeared on Today several times since her sister, Savannah, joined the show as a co-anchor in 2012. The two sisters have spoken openly about their relationship.
Savannah has previously discussed how her sister played an important role after their father’s death. Speaking on Today, she recalled how the sudden loss forced the family to adjust quickly. “Our whole family just hung onto each other for dear life because it was such a shock,” she said. “We were just trying to figure out how to become a family of four, when we had always been a family of five.”
Savannah Guthrie’s Growing Family With Her Husband
Savannah shares two children with her husband, Michael Feldman, a political and communications consultant. The two began dating in 2009, the same year Savannah finalized her divorce from her first husband, Mark Orchard.
After several years together, Savannah and Michael married on March 15, 2014, in Tucson, Arizona. Later that year, on August 13, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Vale.
The couple expanded their family again in December 2016 with the birth of their son, Charles Max Feldman. He was named in honor of Savannah’s late father, Charles Guthrie.
