At 35, contemporary Christian music star Lauren Daigle is embracing her single status, with a clear vision of what she wants in a future husband and family life. During the promotion of her poignant single “Waiting” in 2023, Daigle opened up about the challenges of dating as a well-known figure in the Christian community and her careful approach to relationships. According to her, she’s not about swiping left or right and prefers the old-school way of meeting someone through friends she trusts.
Daigle, who has always been candid about her personal life, expressed her desire for a committed relationship but emphasized that she won’t settle for just anyone. “People will shame you for it, judge you for it, make you think you’re being too picky,” Daigle shared, addressing the pressures of dating in the public eye. She insists that patience in finding the right partner is worth it, believing that “being patient, that type of longing, I think is really fruitful.”
Later that same year, during an appearance on the December 22 broadcast of A Home for the Holidays, the singer also discussed her plans for motherhood. Daigle revealed her intention to adopt a child after she turns 40, reflecting her commitment to providing a loving home to those in need.
However, she is not planning this journey alone and has proposed an “adoption pact” among her friends. “I tell my friends all the time, ‘Why don’t we all just say we’ll adopt at least one kid and just see where that goes?’” she explained. This initiative aims to create a supportive community among her peers, many of whom are also single and in their thirties.
Her Views On Homosexual Relationships
Though she has a liberal view on adoption, Daigle’s mindset doesn’t reflect the same openness when it comes to LGBTQ+ relationships, as evidenced by her open-ended answer in a 2018 radio interview. When asked on “The Domenick Nati Show” if homosexuality is a sin, she gave a non-committal response, stating, “I can’t honestly answer on that. I have too many people that I love that are homosexual. I’m not God.” This statement led to a considerable amount of controversy, sparking discussions on various platforms.
Daigle encouraged listeners to make their own inquiries into biblical teachings, suggesting, “Read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know, because I’m learning too.” Her reluctance to take a definitive stance has been seen by some as avoiding the issue, while others interpret it as a compassionate and inclusive approach.
The backlash was further fueled by her previous appearance on The Ellen Show, where critics targeted her for associating with a gay host. Lauren defended Ellen DeGeneres, calling her “a bundle of light” and “so joyful,” and expressed sadness over the criticism that focused more on Ellen’s sexual orientation rather than the content or quality of the show itself.
