On August 25, 2024, the Baltimore Ravens lost their elite offensive line coach, Joe D’Alessandris, who passed away at the age of 70. Over his 45-year coaching career, D’Alessandris not only shaped the skills of countless athletes but also secured a considerable amount of net worth estimated at $2 million, thanks to his extensive experience and success which commanded a six-figure annual salary.

In 2004, D’Alessandris had already achieved a significant figure, earning upwards of $105,000 per year at Georgia Tech. As his career progressed across various other teams, it’s reasonable to assume that his earnings improved substantially.

He had been a crucial part of the Ravens’ coaching staff since 2017 but had to step aside earlier this month to focus on his health. In his absence, George Warhop was appointed as the interim offensive line coach.

For the past two weeks, D’Alessandris had been receiving medical care for a serious health issue. The Ravens had previously disclosed that he was suffering from “an acute illness” necessitating prolonged and intensive treatment. Earlier in the summer, Joe underwent surgery, which unfortunately led to further health complications.

“Our hearts ache with grief and sadness upon learning of coach Joe D’Alessandris’ passing early this morning.” The team’s statement highlighted the significant impact D’Alessandris had, describing him as a man of “boundless faith, love, devotion, and inspiration.”

In a personal tribute, coach John Harbaugh reflected, “He was our reader at team Mass, and he was loved by all here. He was not only a great coach but also a good man—the kind of person whose friendship was an honor.”

He leaves behind his three daughters—Anna, Kelly, and Emily—and four grandchildren. His wife, Toni Mayfield D’Alessandris, who Joe had been married to for 42 years, preceded him in death in May 2022 after battling a rare form of Parkinson’s disease.
