Ernie Hudson, known for his iconic roles in Ghostbusters and a slew of other hits, is someone who is hard to forget. Even at 78, Hudson’s passion for his craft shows no signs of waning, as he continues to grace both big and small screens with his talent. His presence in Hollywood has not only cemented his legacy but also sparked curiosity among fans about his personal life, particularly regarding his first wife, Jeannie Moore.

While Ernie’s professional journey is well-documented and celebrated, less is known about Jeannie, who has remained largely out of the spotlight. Despite being a key part of Ernie’s early life, Jeannie’s relationship with their two sons has been characterized by distance. This detail makes their family situation more complicated.

Let’s unravel some interesting facts about Ernie’s secretive ex-wife.

She Is Living a Reclusive Life Away from Cameras

Jeannie, who is always in the spotlight thanks to her husband, Ernie Hudson, has since taken a masterclass in flying under the radar. While her ex-husband was busy fighting ghosts, Jeannie opted for a life with no public interference.

Currently, she resides in East Lansing, Michigan. And at the age of 76, she continues to live a life away from the limelight. Her decision to live a life devoid of social media engagement and public appearances paints a clear preference for privacy and separation from the celebrity world.

Her last known activity on social media dates back to 2010, on a Facebook account. However, for the last several years, her account has seemingly turned into a digital ghost town, with the only sign of life being the friend list, which features her son, Rahaman. She also used actress Pam Grier‘s picture as the DP, so there are no latest photos of Jeannie either.

Ernie Married Jeannie To Help Her Get Out of Household Chores

Ernie, in a quest for a new beginning, wanted to enlist in the Marines after high school. But his plan was cut short by his food allergies and asthma. This setback left him yearning for change and a way out of his grandmother’s apartment. It was during this time of uncertainty that he came across Jeannie. Soon, they married in November 1964. At the time, Ernie was 18 and Jeannie was 16.

Their decision to marry was unconventional—started not by a whirlwind romance but by Ernie’s simple desire to help her. Hudson told StarTribune,

“We didn’t know each other. I was trying to help her out because she was complaining about having to wash dishes.”

Soon, Jeannie became pregnant with their oldest son after which the family moved to Detroit. However, as the years progressed, the cracks began to show. By the mid-1970s, the struggles within their marriage became too significant to overlook, and they made the difficult decision to go their separate ways.

She Seems To Be Distant From her Sons

Following the separation between Jeannie Moore and Ernie in 1976, the arrangements were such that it led their sons, Ernie Jr., 60, and Rahaman Hudson, 55, to move to California with their father.

This decision was influenced by Hudson’s eagerness to move to California due to his ascending career in the entertainment industry and Jeannie’s decision to stay in Detroit to pursue higher education. And given that Ernie was earning quite well, the kids naturally stayed with their dad.

“She was much smarter than me,” said Ernie about his first wife, and rightfully so for someone who went on to earn a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (1979). Before that, she studied at Wayne University, where she received her B.A. in 1972.

This arrangement positioned Ernie as the primary caregiver, shaping the upbringing of their kids. The impact of these early decisions appears to have had lasting effects on the nature of the relationship between Jeannie and her sons.

Observations from social media interactions also suggest a distant relationship between Moore and her two sons. Despite the active presence of Ernie Jr., on various platforms, where he frequently shares moments with his father and brother, there is a notable absence of his mother. Rahaman, although less active on social media, similarly has not shared a single post related to Jeannie.

Jeannie Moore Hudson Worked For a Big Conglomerate

After earning her Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan, she landed a position at Honeywell in Minnesota. Honeywell, known for its diverse involvement in various industries, provided her with a platform to apply her knowledge and skills.

Additionally, her now-defunct FB account says she was also involved with the Entrepreneur Magazine. Currently, Jeannie is most probably enjoying her retired life.

Given that she worked in several companies, she has raked herself a substantial net worth of $1 million, which is still a far cry from her ex-husband Ernie’s fortune of $5 million.
