Meet Amy Baier, the wife of renowned Fox News anchor Bret Baier, whose partnership and shared journey with her husband offer a deep well of inspiration and fascination.

The romance between the duo started thanks to a bit of friendly matchmaking. While Amy was settling into her life in Chicago, and Bret was deep in his demanding job on the East Coast, their mutual friends, who were dating each other, sensed a potential spark and arranged for them to meet and they met in October 2002.

In an interview with the Country Magazine, she said,

I’m not sure why they thought it would work, but they had a good feeling it would. They did warn me, though, to buckle up — that a life with Brett Baier would be an interesting ride.

Despite initial doubts about a long-distance relationship, Bret invited Amy to a Rolling Stones concert in Washington, D.C. Amy accepted the invitation with ‘zero expectations,’ but the meeting turned out to be a pivotal moment.

Reflecting on the encounter, Amy said after getting back on the plane, she thought her herself, that she had found someone very special. Additionally, when she first met Bret, he came across as a fine gentleman, which instantly won her heart, ‘Bret was such a gentleman. He’s from Atlanta and has that southern charm.’

Bret felt the same, confidently telling his best friend as he dropped Amy off at the airport that he was going to marry her. And so they did, after dating for two years on October 9th, 2004.

The pair started living in D.C. after marrying, however, the decision was a big change for Amy who wanted to live in Chicago. But Bret told her he would move to the windy city if the country moved its capital there.

To this day, they celebrate each of their anniversary with public affirmations of love and partnership on social media. Bret lovingly refers to Amy as his ‘co-anchor in life.’

Today we explore everything about Amy, shedding light on her plastic surgery rumors, near-fatal accidents, her influential parents, and her life overall.

Amy Baier Has Had a Few Plastic Surgery Procedures

In recent years, fans and observers have noticed some subtle yet noticeable changes in the appearance of Amy, prompting discussions and speculations about going under the knife.

By comparing her earlier photos to more recent ones, we can analyze these changes to determine the types of procedures she underwent for such transformation.

Lip Fillers

One of the most apparent changes in Amy’s appearance is the increased fullness of her lips. Previously, her lips were thinner, especially noticeable in her upper lip. Recent images, however, show a fuller, more voluminous look, which is commonly achieved through the use of dermal lip fillers.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Amy’s eyes also exhibit some noticeable changes. The distance between her eyebrows and her eyes seems reduced, giving her a refreshed and sometimes more intense look. This change is the result of blepharoplasty, a procedure aimed at removing excess skin from the eyelids.

Blepharoplasty can tighten the eyelid skin and reduce sagging, which might explain the altered appearance of her eyelids.

Another significant transformation in her appearance is the tightened appearance of her cheeks and the overall tautness of her face.

This could be indicative of a facelift, which is designed to lift and tighten the underlying muscles of the face to create a smoother, more youthful facial contour.

While less invasive than surgical procedures, Botox injections could also be a part of the cosmetic strategy. Botox is widely used to address wrinkles and fine lines, particularly around the forehead and brow area.

Their Oldest Son Was Born with Multiple Heart Defects

Amy and Bret are parents to two sons, Paul Francis, born on 29th June 2007 and Daniel, born on 10th July 2010. Their journey into parenthood took a challenging turn shortly after Paul’s birth when doctors diagnosed him with multiple congenital heart defects.

Amy shared on the Today Show,

A doctor told us Paul’s heart was extremely complex. Blood was flowing the wrong way, there were two holes in Paul’s walnut-sized heart, and he had three other congenital defects.

Without complex surgery to restructure his heart, Paul’s survival was uncertain. His medical journey included four open-heart surgeries and numerous other procedures, including 10 angioplasties and stomach surgery.

Despite the daunting challenges, today Paul stands tall at 6’3″ and is doing remarkably well. Bret recently shared, ‘He’s doing great. I look up to him, literally.’ Paulie’s resilience and recovery have been a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration for his family.

His dad documented this emotional and inspiring journey in his book, ‘Special Heart: A Journey of Faith, Hope, Courage and Love.’ From the book, he hoped to raise awareness about pediatric heart disease.

She Strives to Improve Children’s Healthcare

If you are wondering what Amy does for a living, she serves as the Foundation Board Vice-Chair for Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She has been with the organization since 2008.

She dedicates her career to pediatric health advocacy, focusing on improving healthcare services for children. Her work includes fundraising, strategic planning, and raising awareness about pediatric health issues. Although her position is primarily volunteer-based, it demands a full-time commitment to leadership and advocacy.

Back in 2014, she raised a staggering $10.7 million for the Children’s National Medical Center by organizing a ball. Amy’s parents also donated $1 million to the institute in 2008.

For their contribution, the hospital honored the Baier couple with the Joseph E. Robert Jr. Prize in Philanthropy in 2014.

Previously, way before she met Bret, she had moved to New York to work as a media planner for Calvin Klein, but she moved back to her birthplace Chicago after 9/11. After moving back to her hometown, she began working at Eli Lilly in their neuroscience retail division.

Her Parents Inspired Her To Become a Philanthropists

Amy Baier comes from a family that’s heavily involved in philanthropy and business, deeply rooted in their community. Her father, Paul Hills, co-founded Sage Products, a company known for manufacturing medical devices, and now holds the position of Chairman at Hills Capital Management and Director at MedShape, Inc.

Alongside his successful business career, Paul is actively engaged in various charitable efforts. He and Amy’s mother, Barbara Hills, moved their family to Barrington, Illinois, back in 1985, while looking for better education opportunities for their four kids.

Together, they have chaired numerous fundraising campaigns, such as the Advocate Charitable Foundation’s Look Forward campaign, which supports Good Shepherd Hospital.

Paul and Barbara are also Trustees of the Naples Winter Wine Festival and lead the capital campaign for the modernization of facilities at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

Amy also has three brothers: Tom, John Paul, and her twin, Danny. Keeping the family tradition of giving back, Tom and John Paul, along with their wives, founded Barrington Children’s Charities. Tom continues to lead as the Chairman of the Board.

Amy and Bret Are Multi-Millionaires With Houses All Over

Amy and Bret Baier have established a significant real estate presence with properties in some of the most desirable locations. In 2024, Bret shared with WSJ Real Estate that they’ve decided to relocate to Palm Beach, Florida.

This decision came after listing their Washington D.C. home—a lavish project originally built for $30 million—for an impressive $32 million. The move to Palm Beach was driven by their affection for the area, heightened during frequent visits throughout the pandemic.

Another compelling factor was their son’s passion for golf, a sport that finds a perfect backdrop in Florida’s sprawling greens.

In 2022, the Baiers had already dipped their toes into the Palm Beach market by purchasing a $12 million home from fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger. In 2024, they invested another $37 million in the state.

Despite their growing Florida roots, Bret’s professional commitments as Chief Political Anchor of Fox News and anchor and executive editor of Special Report mean he’s still tied to Washington D.C. To manage this, he commutes weekly for his live shows.

With this arrangement, the Baiers are now searching for a more modest residence in D.C. to balance their bicoastal lifestyle efficiently.

The Baier Family Survived a Fatal Accident

Bret and his family experienced a terrifying ordeal when their SUV slid on icy roads and was involved in a severe accident in Montana in 2019. After enjoying a weekend skiing trip near Bozeman, Bret, alongside his wife Amy and their two sons, was navigating to the airport when their vehicle hit a patch of ice.

The SUV lost control, skidded into a busy intersection, and collided with a pickup truck, resulting in their vehicle overturning and landing in a ditch.

The impact was intense—airbags deployed, windows shattered, and the car ended up flipped on its side. Miraculously, a passing motorist witnessed the accident and stopped to help the family escape from the overturned vehicle.

First responders were quick to arrive at the scene and transported them to a hospital where they were treated for minor injuries, including a concussion, stitches, a dislodged tooth, and a sprained ankle.

Thankfully, no life-threatening injuries were sustained.  Local authorities also confirmed that there were no drugs or alcohol involved. Bret expressed his gratitude towards the first responders and the community for their support and professionalism during such a critical moment.
