PopTVCulture has exclusively learned that Angel Olsen, the eclectic singer, has just tied the knot with her boyfriend, Maxim Ludwig.
The couple, who started dating in August 2022, didn’t wait long to take the plunge, hitting the wedding bell just over a year later.
Their wedding ceremony was a picturesque event, held against the dramatic landscape of towering rock formations. Angel, 39, looked stunning in a chic white wedding dress with puffy off-the-shoulder sleeves, perfectly blending with the serene, rugged backdrop. Maxim complemented her perfectly, looking sharp in a classic black tuxedo.
This rapid march to matrimony is buzzing with excitement among their fans. Angel and Maxim’s decision to get married just after their first anniversary has everyone admiring the obvious chemistry and deep bond the couple shares.
Maxim Ludwig Is More Than Just Angel’s Husband
Ludwig, much like his partner Angel, is also a singer-songwriter who brings his own flavor to the music scene. He released singles “All My Nightmares” and “Assembly Line” in 2015, followed by his solo album “Libra-Scorpio Cusp” in 2017.
Beyond his own music, Ludwig has been a major influence on Olsen’s career. He directed the lyric video for her song “Nothing’s Free” and became an integral part of her 2023 North American tour. Behind the scenes, he was responsible for everything from mic checks to setlist management.
They continue to tour together and Angel shared their plans for the upcoming September/October 2024 tour on her Instagram. She excitedly posted, “This is the perfect way to end my solo run in the fall. I’ll see you in Arcosanti in October” and listed her husband Ludwig among the special guests.
Their collaboration isn’t just limited to tours. In March 2024, they covered “I Can’t Stand It” for a Lou Reed tribute compilation, with Olsen noting Lou Reed as her earliest punk rock influence.

Building on this momentum, in June 2024, they released a joint single and music video, “Mercury Avenue,” featuring Ludwig’s band, The Mystics.
From Gay to Pansexual, Olsen’s Evolving Identity
Olsen’s personal life has been as vibrant and varied as her music. In April 2021, she openly declared herself gay in a heartfelt Instagram post, which has since been deleted. The post included a series of meaningful photos with her then-partner, Adele Thibodeaux, a writer known for HBO’s High Maintenance. Alongside the photos, she boldly stated, “My beau, I’m gay.”
However, in September 2022, Olsen revealed in an interview with Shangay that she and Thibodeaux had parted ways back in June. She described the separation as challenging yet necessary, noting it was more difficult than discussing her deceased parents. “That person was by my side when my parents died, it was a very intense period,” she shared.
Before Thibodeaux, Olsen had a creative and romantic link with musician Meg Duffy, with whom she also collaborated musically.
This personal history set the stage for Olsen to further explore her identity. In a 2022 interview with The Guardian, she openly identified as pansexual. “The way that I identify is more pansexual. I connect with a human being,” she explained.
