Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s 48th governor, is creating a stir in the political world. With Vice President Kamala Harris emerging as a potential Democratic presidential candidate, Shapiro’s name is popping up in conversations about possible VP picks. The chatter intensified when he publicly backed Kamala, promising to go all out to help her get elected.
While his political moves are making headlines, there’s more to this story than campaign talk. At the heart of it all is a close-knit family ready to stand by him. He and his high school sweetheart Lori are proud parents to four kids: Sophia, Jonah, Max, and Reuben. Born between 2001 and 2011, these siblings might soon find themselves in the middle of a national political whirlwind.
As Josh prepares to champion Harris’s potential presidential run, let’s get to know the young faces who’ll be right there with him, supporting their dad through what could be one of the biggest chapters in their family’s story.
His Eldest Daughter, Sophia Shapiro, Might Have A Big Part To Play
At 24, Sophia isn’t just the governor’s daughter – she’s a political force in her own right. Fresh out of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Urban Studies and a minor in Education, she has already made waves in the world of politics.
During her father’s gubernatorial campaign, Sophia stepped up in a big way. She spearheaded “Students for Shapiro,” an initiative that spread to over 50 chapters and nearly 1,000 members across Pennsylvania and beyond. Her knack for connecting with young voters through social media, especially TikTok, helped bring her dad’s message to a whole new audience.
Sophia’s political savvy goes beyond just campaigning for her father. She’s interned at the White House, worked with the College Democrats, and is now part of the Biden for President campaign team. With her experience in youth mobilization and her current role in the Biden campaign, she could be a key player if the political landscape shifts towards a potential Harris-Shapiro ticket.
Her activism started early, from organizing a National School Walkout after the Parkland shooting to advocating against anti-Semitism on her college campus. Now, as her father potentially steps onto the national stage, her blend of grassroots organizing skills and social media know-how might prove invaluable.
As the political world watches Josh, it’s clear that his daughter, Sophia, is carving out her own path in politics – one that could have a significant impact on her father’s future endeavors.
Jonah Shapiro Is A College Freshman
Josh’s second oldest, Jonah, is making his own mark as he steps into college life. Following in his sister’s footsteps, he graduated from Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, where he was far from just a face in the crowd.
The 21-year-old threw himself into a mix of activities, from swinging a lacrosse stick to raising awareness for pediatric cancer through Mini-THON. His involvement in the sports debate club, Israel Club, and Jewish Leadership Initiative showcased his diverse interests and leadership potential.
Now, Jonah’s embarking on a new chapter at the University of Pittsburgh, where he’s eyeing a major in international relations. But he’s not waiting for graduation to get his feet wet in the professional world. He’s already racked up some impressive experience, including a stint as an international trade intern with the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia and time as a caddie at North Hill Country Club.
His interest in public service is clear from his internship with the Pennsylvania National Guard’s 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team. And he’s keeping busy during his college breaks too.
Jonah’s been putting his skills to work as a summer intern at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and spending his summers as a camp counselor at Sesame/Rockwood Camps & Rockwood Adventures Teen Travel.
As Jonah navigates his freshman year, he’s not just hitting the books – he’s building a foundation for a future that could be as politically engaged as his family’s.
Max Shapiro Is Quite The Athlete
Max, Josh’s 17-year-old son, is making a name for himself in the world of sports. Currently a student at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, he is part of the class of 2027 and is already showing his athletic prowess on multiple fronts.
On the basketball court, Max is a member of the Men’s Varsity team. His HUDL profile highlights his skills and achievements in the sport.
But Max’s athletic talents don’t stop at basketball. His Instagram profile reveals he’s also involved in lacrosse, demonstrating his versatility as a young athlete.
As Max continues to develop his skills in both basketball and lacrosse, he’s establishing his own identity within the Shapiro family.
The Youngest Reuben Shapiro Is The President We Need
Reuben, born in 2011, might be the youngest of the Shapiro children, but he’s already made a lasting impression. At just 7 years old, he showed a surprising awareness of national issues that caught everyone’s attention.
In a heartwarming display of childhood ambition, young Reuben created a drawing that spoke volumes. It featured a boy sitting in front of the American flag, accompanied by a powerful message: “When I am the president I will protect the environment.“
Josh was so moved by his son’s creation that he shared it on social media and vowed to hang it in his office. The governor’s emotional response highlighted just how impactful Reuben’s innocent declaration was.
While his father is gunning for the VP position, little Reuben was already setting his sights on the presidency. Maybe he’s exactly what the climate needs right now.
