Alexa Marie Aikman, the daughter of former NFL star Troy Aikman, carries the athletic spirit of her family into her own endeavors. Growing up in the spotlight due to her father’s prominent career as a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Alexa has carved out her own path in athletics, excelling as a volleyball player during her high school years at The Episcopal School of Dallas. Currently, she is furthering her education at Southern Methodist University, where she continues to pursue her sports interests.

Alexa has a strong bond with both of her parents even years after their divorce. They have shown a united front at major milestones in her life, including her high school graduation. This continued familial support has been a cornerstone of Alexa’s upbringing, even amidst personal trials, such as the arrest of her mother a year following the separation.

She Has A Half-Sister From Her Mother’s Side

Alexa was born as the second daughter of former footballer Troy Aikman and Rhonda Worthey on July 30, 2002. She has an older sister, Jordan, who was born in August 2001, and a half-sister, Rachel Worthey, from her mother’s previous marriage. Rachel graduated from Duke University and currently works as a circulating nurse at Baylor Orthopedic & Spine Hospital in Arlington.

Rhonda was a publicist for the Dallas Cowboys, where she met her future husband, Troy. Their professional connection blossomed into a personal one, leading to their marriage on April 8, 2000, in a private ceremony at Aikman’s home in Plano, Dallas.

Her Parents Divorced After Ten Years of Marriage

After a decade together and having two daughters, Alexa’s parents decided to end their marriage. In January 2011, they publicly announced their plans to divorce, which was finalized in April of that year.

In their statement, Troy expressed the difficulty of their decision, emphasizing their mutual commitment to their children and requesting privacy during their period of adjustment. “This has been a difficult decision for Rhonda and me, but after 10 years of marriage, we have decided to separate,” wrote Aikman.

Following their separation, Troy married Catherine “Capa” Mooty, a fashion retailer, in 2017, although their union ended in divorce by 2023.

Professionally, Troy has transitioned from the football field to the broadcasting booth. He is currently a color commentator for Monday Night Football. Before this role, Aikman was a familiar voice on Fox, serving as a commentator from 2001 to 2021, following his retirement from professional football.

On the other hand, Rhonda lives in Dallas and works as an executive assistant at Key Development, LLC, in Addison, Texas. Previously, she worked for the Dallas Cowboys from 1992 to 1999.

On August 27, 2012, just a year after her divorce from Troy, Rhonda was arrested for public intoxication. She was found intoxicated while parking her car in a high school parking lot in Murphy, Texas.

Alexa’s Journey From High School Achievements to Community Engagement

Alexa Marie graduated from The Episcopal School of Dallas in May 2021 where she excelled as a volleyball player. Her talent on the court led her team to victories over local rivals such as Hockaday, Cooper, and Greenhill High Schools. Proud of her accomplishments, her father frequently shared these triumphs on Instagram.

In pursuit of higher education, Alexa started her studies at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business in August 2021. She is working towards a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, aiming to graduate in May 2025. In January 2022, she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she participates in various sorority activities and expands her social network.

Alexa’s professional journey includes several internships that have broadened her skills and experience. She gained marketing insights as a summer intern at Andrews Distributing. She also explored interior design during a spring internship at Mary Beth Wager Interiors. Additionally, a summer stint at Allie Beth Allman & Associates provided her with valuable knowledge about the real estate industry.

There, she co-founded Teens United, an initiative encouraging high school students to engage in community service.

In the summer of 2021, Alexa served as a camp counselor at Camp Longhorn in Burnet, Texas. For two months, she led and mentored younger campers, creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for all involved.
